In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. He took six days to create everything, and His creation was perfect.

God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning —the sixth day. – Gen 1:31

Thus the heavens and the earth were completed in all their vast array. – Gen 2:1

He gave mankind one commandment as a test of obedience:

You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die. – Gen 2:16-17

God created us not as puppets, but He wanted us to be obedient because we love Him.

Guess what? Our ancestors decided that they didn’t want God. As a result, we’re cursed with sin and death.

Why is the world filled with evil and injustice? Why are people selfish? Why are we miserable?

Because we are sinners.

Sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned. – Rom 5:12

For the wages of sin is death. – Rom 6:23

Sin simply means to disappoint God’s standard: perfection. Because the world didn’t want God to be our Lord, He granted us our wish: He gave us a taste of life without Him.

The Solution

God did something incredible: He died on our behalf. 2000 years ago, Jesus stepped into history to save us from what we did. He offers His salvation from sin free to whoever wants it!

The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. – Rom 6:23

His Resurrection demonstrated the power His life has over death. If you put your faith in Jesus, the Holy Spirit will come live in your heart and overcome your sin. As we grow in Christ, sin and death become less relevant to us.

He will swallow up death for all time, And the Lord GOD will wipe tears away from all faces, And He will remove the reproach of His people from all the earth; For the LORD has spoken. – Isa 25:8

Today, Jesus Christ offers His salvation free, but we need to repent from our sins. Perhaps we have an addiction, or maybe we’ve lied or cheated.

What is salvation? It’s asking God to be Lord over our lives instead of ourselves.

For we do not preach ourselves but Christ Jesus as Lord, and ourselves as your bond-servants for Jesus’ sake. – 2 Cor 4:5
